Biodiversity and Habitat Loss (European Space Agency)

We share our planet with millions of other living species. Earth’s biosphere is undergoing rapid changes that have an impact on the natural cycles that control climate, as well as more immediate effects on living things. Global warming, wildfires, deforestation and other human activities, trigger dramatic changes in natural habitats, challenging the adaptation and survival of many of its inhabitants.

This printable pack contains three ready-to-use activities suitable for use in school, with youth groups or at home:
– An introductory text to introduce or revise the vocabulary used in discussion of biodiversity.
– Calculating a measure of biodiversity in one or more local habitats using a field survey.
– Using real climate data to investigate how the habitat of a particular species has changed over the last two decades.

This is one of a range of packs produced by the ESA Climate Office and available here
